Secrets of Maintenance for Double-headed T-shaped Welding Machine to Extend Equipment Life

2025-02-27

In industrial production, the double-headed T-shaped welding machine plays a crucial role. Its stable operation directly affects production efficiency and product quality. To ensure that the double-headed T-shaped welding machine always maintains its best performance and extends its service life, scientific and reasonable maintenance is of great importance. Here are some practical maintenance secrets introduced in detail for you.

I. Daily Inspection

  1. Appearance Inspection: Before starting work every day, carefully check whether the casing of the welding machine is damaged, deformed, or corroded. If the casing is found to be damaged, it should be repaired or replaced in a timely manner to prevent internal components from being damaged. At the same time, check whether all components of the welding machine are firmly installed and whether there are any signs of looseness. If looseness is found, it should be tightened immediately.
  2. Cable Inspection: Check whether the welding cable and power cord are damaged, exposed, or aged. A damaged cable will lead to current leakage, which not only affects the welding effect but may also cause safety accidents. If there is a problem with the cable, it should be replaced in a timely manner. In addition, check whether the connection parts of the cable are tightened to ensure good contact and avoid overheating caused by poor contact.
  3. Welding Torch Inspection: Check whether the contact tip of the welding torch is worn. If the aperture of the contact tip becomes larger, it will lead to unstable arc and affect the welding quality. In this case, the contact tip should be replaced in a timely manner. At the same time, check whether the spring hose is blocked or damaged. If the spring hose accumulates a large amount of iron powder, dust, etc., it will make the wire feeding unstable. You can curl it and tap it gently to shake off the accumulated substances, and then blow them off with compressed air. If the spring hose has misaligned wires or is severely deformed and bent, a new hose should be replaced. In addition, also check whether the insulating ferrule is intact. If the insulating ferrule is removed during welding, spatters will adhere to the inside of the nozzle, making the nozzle conduct with the live part, and the welding torch may be burned out due to a short circuit.

II. Regular Maintenance

  1. Internal Cleaning: Every once in a while (it is recommended to do it once a month), use clean and dry compressed air to blow the dust inside the welding machine. Since the welding machine is forced air-cooled, it is easy to suck in dust from the surroundings and accumulate it inside the machine, especially in parts such as the transformer, reactance coil, the gaps between the coil windings, and power semiconductors. These parts should be cleaned particularly thoroughly to ensure the heat dissipation effect of the welding machine and prevent the equipment from being damaged due to overheating caused by excessive dust accumulation.
  2. Power Wiring Inspection: Regularly check the wiring parts of the power wiring, including the terminals of the input side, output side, etc., as well as the wiring parts of the external and internal wiring. Check whether the wiring screws are loose. If they are loose, they should be tightened in a timely manner. If rust is found, the rust should be removed to ensure good contact and conductivity, so as to ensure the stability of power transmission.
  3. Maintenance of Wire Feeding Device:
  4. Adjustment of Feeding Pressure: The feeding pressure of the wire feeding roller should be adjusted appropriately according to the diameter of the wire used. If the pressure is insufficient, the wire will slip; if the pressure is too high, the wire will be scratched and deformed. When using flux-cored wire, the feeding pressure of the wire feeding wheel should be smaller than that when using solid wire.
  5. Adjustment of Wire Straightening Device: According to the indication of the manufacturer, adjust the wire straightening device to the appropriate position corresponding to the diameter of the wire used to ensure the straightening effect of the wire and make the wire feeding smooth.
  6. Inspection of Wire Reel Installation: Ensure that the wire reel is installed in place, and check whether the brake block or pin is reliably installed to prevent the wire reel from falling off during rotation and causing safety accidents.
  7. Inspection of Wire Feeding Wheel: Install a wire feeding wheel suitable for the diameter of the wire used, and check whether the numbers engraved on the roller are consistent with the diameter of the wire used. At the same time, check whether the groove of the wire feeding roller is worn, whether the surface is scratched, and whether there is dust, iron powder, wire plating debris, etc. adhering to the groove. If there are any problems, the wire feeding wheel should be cleaned or replaced in a timely manner.
  8. Inspection of Wire Guide Nozzle: Regularly check whether the wire guide nozzles installed before and after the wire feeding roller are worn or not level with the wire feeding roller. If there are any problems, it will cause the wire to bend and the wire feeding to be unstable, and timely inspection and maintenance should be carried out.

III. Handling of Special Situations

  1. Avoid Overloading: When using the double-headed T-shaped welding machine, operate it strictly within the rated power and current range of the equipment to avoid overloading. Overloading will cause the welding machine to heat up severely, shorten the service life of the equipment, and may even lead to equipment damage. At the same time, also avoid frequent starting and stopping of the welding machine, as well as long-term continuous use, so that the welding machine has enough time to cool down.
  2. Prevent Moisture Infiltration: The welding machine should be placed in a dry and well-ventilated environment to avoid getting damp. If the welding machine is accidentally exposed to moisture, stop using it immediately and carry out drying treatment. You can use a hair dryer and other tools to dry the inside of the welding machine, and then use a megohmmeter to measure the insulation of the welding machine. Only after confirming that there are no abnormalities can it be used again.
  3. Maintenance When Not in Use for a Long Time: If the welding machine is not used for a long time, put the welding machine back into the original packaging box and store it in a dry environment. At the same time, every once in a while (such as every three months), conduct a power-on inspection of the welding machine to ensure that all components of the equipment are normal and prevent the equipment from being damaged due to long-term idleness.

Through these maintenance secrets, the service life of the double-headed T-shaped welding machine can be effectively extended, and its stable and efficient operation during the production process can be ensured. It is hoped that everyone can attach importance to the maintenance work of the welding machine and let the equipment create greater value for production.
